Encaustic dates back to the days of the Egyptian pyramids, yet is a medium that allows you to create stunning modern works! Smoosh, slither, and scrape your way to an abstracted masterpiece following Gayle’s relaxed methods. No brushes; no drawing—just a joyous exploration of using wax and oil pigments with wild abandon.

  A life mask is a capture of your soul at one point in time—using your own face.

Don’t panic! Create the mask following steps that ensure you are comfortable, relaxed, and safe. In an optional second session, use acrylic paints to transform your mask into an abstracted view of self or other. Not all serious, this workshop can also be adapted to theatrical, costume, and other preferences of participants.

 Gayle has lake water in her veins, and she loves exploring Lake Winnipeg’s ever-changing beauty and challenges. She will share with you her technique for creating award-winning paintings of algae blooms that threaten the Lake. This is a demonstration that can be done at your event, conference, gathering—and customize from 10-30 minutes in length.

An accompanying workshop option is available for presentations in Winnipeg Beach, and can include a guided visit to the Winnipeg Beach lighthouse nearby for guided photographing, sketching, or plein air painting.

 Gayle will share 3 keys to painting works that have a small footprint but big impact. Create two pieces from your own photographs using Gayle's techniques: one in watercolour, and a second using acrylics. Drawing skills are not required as Gayle will show you how!
